In praise of Virgin Worlds

virgin-worlds.jpg

Not long after I bought my first mp3 player I started listening to podcasts, after casting about for awhile  trying to find stuff to listen to, I stumbled across the Virgin Worlds website run by Brent. The site struck me as slick and functional and amazingly free of flashing ads. Here I found a  site and podcast that was all about massive multiplayer online role playing games, the people and companies involved in making the games as well as the people who actually play the games.

At the time I was heavily into playing Dungeons and Dragons Online and noticed listed on the site the latest VW episode was all about DDO with a panel of people commenting on their experiences in game.

Well, I listened and I was hooked, and I have been hooked ever since.

The VW site and community have developed under Brent’s guiding hand to include amongst many other things a podcast “collective” .the collective is an amazing collection of mmo related podcasts that is unique on the internet as far as I can tell.

Recently to help cover the monthly costs associated with running such a venture, Brent instigated a membership program, as part of the program you can put your hand up to sponsor one of the podcasts, and as a fan I was happy to do so.

Hugh the hopeless gamer is now a proud co-sponsor of Shut up. We’re Talking podcast,it’s a favorite of mine hosted by Darren from The Common Sense Gamer blog. Its all about the mmo bloging and podcasting community and each fortnight Darren and guests frighten and entertain me  with how much they know about mmo’s and the mmo community.

Great stuff.

My brief description of Virgin Worlds and all that surrounds it doesn’t in  anyway do justice to the content, my advice is to go to there and check out first hand what is on offer.

You will not be disappointed
